This module also provides a second placement opportunity with one of our external broadcast partners. We have placement opportunities with all the major broadcasters and production companies in Wales and further afield for students who are prepared to travel; these include a number of Welsh medium placement opportunities. Throughout this programme, students will gain practical, real-world experience of various broadcast roles; presenter, reporter, producer, director, videographer, camera operator, floor manager, video editor, social media producer, commentator, live-stream engineer, and all-round broadcast and mobile journalist.
In a fast-paced, ever-changing industry it’s vital our students stay ahead of these trends. We set students industry tasks, designed by industry experts, with the students using industry standard tools. When students leave us and have an interview with Sky Sports or BBC Sport, we want them to be ready. Confident they understand the industry and the broadcast regulatory landscape around it and armed with a portfolio of work to prove they can create sports content for any audience or platform. Our 60 credit work placement is designed to ensure that graduates of the programme have significant, hands-on, practical “real world experience” and regular engagement with the industry that will make them uniquely prepared for work in the Sport Broadcast Industry.
